Trying to become a truck driver can be an overwhelming task by trying to figure out the best method in order to enter the career. Should you go to a company paid training program? Should you choose from one of the many truck driving schools in New York? Should you go out of state and choose a school such as to a truck driving school in East Windsor, CT? Only you can make the final decision but we have a few tips to hopefully help. Simply put, learn as much as you can about each option before deciding (i.e., signing a contract and paying money). Contact as many schools as you want by either calling them or filling out forms online to have them contact you. Let them know at this stage you are information gathering and are not ready to make a final decision on how you plan to become a truck driver yet. Ask the school and companies that offer CDL training if you can talk with some of their former students? Talk with trucking companies to find out how they like to hire brand new drivers, or if they even hire brand new truck drivers. Some companies only want drivers with experience, but you have to get it somewhere so there are companies hiring fresh graduates, you just have to find them. The most important item to keep in mind is to be well informed, the more information you have the better decision you can make.
